Announced by President Emmanuel Macron, the Création Africa art forum will take place from 6 to 8 October 2023 in Paris. This first forum, which follows on from the New Africa-France Summit, aims to encourage the forging of creative bridges and the sharing of innovative ideas between France and the countries of the African continent. The aim is to make Création Africa a key event for those working in the cultural and creative industries (CCIs).
The cultural and creative industries are sectors involving the creation, development, production and distribution of goods, services and activities with cultural, artistic and/or heritage content. They play a central role in the French economy, generating jobs and promoting French skills around the world.
At the crossroads of economic diplomacy and soft power, the promotion of the CCIs is a key aspect of French policy. Since 2015, it has been included in the public export support mechanism, structured by priority “families”.
The Création Africa forum is an innovative platform, creating new opportunities and refreshing imaginations, reflecting the constant changes in our societies.
- More than 400 participants, including more than 200 from the African continent
- More than 70 speakers
- More than 60 French businesses looking for innovative projects
- Five regional training hubs
- A tertiary hub bringing together key French agencies
Driven by the desire to support and transmit emerging African artistic creation, the Création Africa forum offers:
- The screening of 20 animated films and television series,
- Two augmented reality exhibitions,
- Virtual reality: 14 works and video games to try out
- Two original works of video mapping produced in Kenya and South Africa, for an immersive experience
The forum, which will take place in the context of the forthcoming Maison des Mondes Africains (MansA), aspires to become an ideal space to develop trade, partnerships and commercial opportunities. Round tables, debates and conferences will be proposed to creators, entrepreneurs and experts from the CCI sectors, and open to the general public.
Création Africa, which will be renewed every year, will become a key and lasting event for people working in the CCIs. It will foster exchanges and collaborations between French and European entrepreneurs and the cultural and creative actors from the African continent. Industry artists, creators, producers, promoters and leaders are encouraged to use this forum to share the best of African contemporary creation.
The organization of this event is supported by the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs (MEAE) and the Ministry of Culture. It is partnered with the Agence Française de Développement, the Pompidou Centre, the Conservatoire National des Arts et des Métiers (Cnam), Business France, the Public Investment Bank (Bpifrance) and the Institut Français.
