Stéphane Séjourné speaks with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken (3 August 2024)
Stéphane Séjourné, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, spoke by telephone this afternoon with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken.
They shared their concerns about rising tensions in the Near and Middle East.
They agreed to continue to call on all parties to exercise the utmost restraint in order to prevent any regional conflagration that would have devastating consequences for the countries of the region and for the search for a prospect of peace, starting with a lasting ceasefire in Gaza, a matter of urgency for both ministers who agreed to pursue their joint efforts to achieve it.
In a highly volatile security context, the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs recalls the importance of regularly consulting its travel advice for countries in the region.
