Ukraine – France condemns the latest Russian missile strikes against Ukraine (28 August 2023)

France condemns in the strongest possible terms the Russian missile strikes that targeted the Poltava region and the village of Hoholeve overnight on Monday, August 28, leaving three people dead and five others injured.

These strikes once again targeted civilian infrastructure and, in particular, an industrial site, which was severely damaged. This deliberate targeting of civilians confirms yet again that Russia continues to show no regard for international humanitarian law. Russia must be held responsible for these acts, which constitute war crimes.

As the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs will state again tomorrow at the Ambassadors’ Conference where her Ukrainian counterpart will be the guest of honor, France will not stop denouncing Russia’s actions and condemning its ongoing war of aggression against Ukraine. France will continue to support Ukraine as long as is necessary, as well as the Ukrainian and international courts, so that the crimes committed by Russia do not go unpunished.
