Sudan – Rapid Support Forces’ attacks on Zamzam and Abu Shuk displacement camps (14 April 2025)
France strongly condemns the attacks carried out by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on the Zamzam and Abu Shuk displacement camps in Sudan’s North Darfur region, which killed many civilians and humanitarian workers. The perpetrators of these crimes will have to be held to account.
In accordance with United Nations Security Council Resolution 2736, the RSF must immediately halt the siege of El Fasher, whose humanitarian consequences are disastrous.
France reiterates its appeal for an immediate cessation of hostilities across the country and for the parties to honour their commitments to protect the population and ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid, in accordance with their obligations under international humanitarian law.
A year after the Paris conference, M. Jean-Noël Barrot, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, will co-chair the London conference on Sudan on 15 April 2025 to continue France’s action to promote the return of peace in Sudan.
