Sudan – French solidarity in the face of flooding (September 3, 2025)
France expresses its utmost solidarity with the Sudanese people and offers its heartfelt condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims of the violent flooding that had a severe impact on the country and caused the terrible landslide in the Darfur village of Tarasin on August 31.
In the face of this latest tragedy, France will continue to stand with the Sudanese people, who have experienced one ordeal after another, just as it has done over the past several years. It will continue its effort to contribute to the international humanitarian response in Sudan and neighboring countries, for which it mobilized €50 million in 2025. It calls on the parties to the conflict to comply with their obligations under international humanitarian law and to guarantee total, safe, unhindered humanitarian access nationwide.
In order to end the enormous suffering inflicted upon civilian populations, the parties to the conflict must urgently resume direct negotiations to achieve a permanent ceasefire. France, along with its partners, stands ready to support its implementation.
