Slovakia –Visit by Laurence Boone (29 november 2022)
Laurence Boone, Minister of State for Europe, attached to the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, will be visiting Slovakia today. As we approach 2023, the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between our two countries, the minister and her Slovak counterpart, State Secretary Andrej Stančik, will address such major bilateral issues as our strategic partnership and the strengthening of economic and academic cooperation. Ms. Boone and Mr. Stančik will also discuss Europe’s responses to the energy crisis, migration and the fight against radicalization and disinformation.
During her visit, Laurence Boone and Andrej Stančik will visit a high school that offers a work-study teacher training program. This school was built and equipped in part with funding from the EU. In addition, Ms. Boone will visit the location of the October 12th attack on Bratislava’s LGBT+ community.
The ministers will stress their commitment to supporting Ukraine in the long term, ahead of the December 13th conference in support of civilian resilience in Ukraine. That event is being jointly organized by France and Ukraine and will be held at the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs in Paris.
Lastly, Ms. Boone and Mr. Stančik will meet with Austrian and Czech representatives in the Austerlitz Format. Their talks will focus on support for Ukraine, energy solidarity, the Western Balkans, the European Political Community and the rule of law.
