Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean-Noël Barrot spoke over the phone with his Senegalese counterpart, Minister of African Integration, Foreign Affairs and Senegalese Abroad Cheikh Niang on December 10, 2025.

The Ministers talked about strengthening the partnership between France and Senegal, which they want to see grounded in mutually beneficial relations built on the strength of our historic ties and in service of our interests and our peoples. In particular, they discussed the next Franco-Senegalese intergovernmental seminar, which will bring fresh momentum to our countries’ political dialogue and provide new opportunities for concrete cooperation.

In addition, they talked about Senegal’s ongoing discussions with the IMF, commemoration efforts, and the upcoming Africa Forward Summit, which will be held in Nairobi in May 2026.
