Poland – Visit by Mme Catherine Colonna, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, to Warsaw (31 May 2022)
Mme Catherine Colonna, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, is travelling to Poland today, following her visit to Ukraine yesterday. She will hold a meeting in Warsaw with her Polish counterpart, Mr Zbigniew Rau. The Minister will pay tribute to Polish people’s exceptional surge of solidarity with Ukraine, manifested in Poland hosting a very large number of refugees. She will emphasize our two countries’ close cooperation in the face of this major crisis and our determination, as the French presidency of the Council of the European Union, to bolster support for Ukraine in the long term and at every level in the face of Russia’s aggression.
In this framework, the two ministers will also discuss food-security issues and the challenges of energy independence in Europe. The conversation will also provide an opportunity to discuss the Western Balkans, which the two countries would like to bring even closer into Europe. The Minister will have the opportunity to speak about the proposal for a European political community set out by the French President on 9 May, and to discuss issues relating to the rule of law.
