The Minister of State for European Affairs, attached to the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, met with Polish Deputy Minister for European Affairs Szymon Szynkowski vel Sęk in Paris on April 1.

They discussed the war in Ukraine and its repercussions, particularly the massive inflow of refugees into the EU and the conditions for welcoming them, aid to Ukraine and sanctions against Russia. They reiterated their condemnation of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine in the strongest possible terms and emphasized the need for the EU and its member states to continue providing their full support for Ukraine.

They stressed Poland’s exceptional outpouring of solidarity toward the refugees and highlighted the need to strengthen EU support for Poland and other member states that take in refugees, as well as Moldova. They presented their respective national refugee reception programs.

They reiterated the importance of making it increasingly costly for Russia to continue its war on Ukraine and noted additional measures that could be taken in this regard.

They discussed prospects for adopting a national recovery and resilience plan for Poland and the efforts expected by the Polish authorities in this regard.
