Lebanon – Israeli army fire on a UNIFIL position (15 May 2025)

France condemns the Israeli army fire on a UNIFIL position on May 13.

France stresses that UN peacekeepers must be protected, the safety and security of UN personnel, premises and assets must be ensured, and international law and resolution 1701 must be respected.

UNIFIL must be able to fully implement its mandate, which includes its freedom of movement.

In this difficult situation, we salute the courage, professionalism and unwavering commitment of UNIFIL personnel, and we support their appeal to all actors to act responsibly.

France reiterates that all parties without exception must abide by the ceasefire in order to guarantee the safety of civilian populations on both sides of the Blue Line.
