Lebanon – Delivery of medicines and medical equipment (29.09.24)
In Beirut today, Sunday evening, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean-Noël Barrot delivered to the Lebanese Health Minister 12 tonnes of medicines and medical equipment transported by plane by the French Ministry for the Armed Forces, to address emergency and general medical needs, particularly paediatric.
The operation made it possible to deliver two mobile health units that will take charge of 1,000 seriously injured people in Lebanese hospitals.
Eighteen trunks of medicine supplied by the non-governmental organization Tulipe will also allow NGOs to resupply emergency health, pediatric and general medical services with essential medicines.
France thanks the partners in this operation, conducted in cooperation with the European Union.
Jean-Noël Barrot also announced the release of €10 million of emergency humanitarian aid in support of the actions of humanitarian organizations on the ground, especially the Lebanese Red Cross.
In view of the escalating conflict between Israel and Hezbollah, France stands by Lebanon and remains committed to the protection of civilians and the safety of its own nationals.
