Ireland – Conversation between Mme Catherine Colonna and her counterpart (29 Jul. 2022)
Mme Catherine Colonna, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, spoke to Mr Simon Coveney, Irish Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Defence, today, Friday 29 July.
The ministers welcomed the excellent relations between France and Ireland, in line with the Joint Plan of Action 2021-2025 adopted in August 2021 during the French President’s visit to Ireland. They also signalled their commitment to our joint work at the United Nations Security Council, of which Ireland is currently a non-permanent member, and in the European Union. The ministers reaffirmed their full support for the European Commission with regard to the Northern Ireland Protocol.
The ministers expressed the firmness and unity of Europe’s response to the Russian aggression in Ukraine. The French Minister emphasized the importance of providing lasting support to Ukraine on every level. They also discussed the situation in the Middle East.
