Today, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Catherine Colonna had a telephone conversation with her Iranian counterpart, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian. The minister raised the issue of the arbitrary detention of French citizens in Iran and repeated our call for their immediate release. She reiterated the unacceptable nature of the so-called televised confessions of two of these citizens.
The minister strongly condemned the ongoing repression in Iran and called on the country to comply with the international commitments that were made by Iran itself, in particular, the commitments made under the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.
