Iran – Adoption of Sanctions by the Council of the European Union (October 20, 2022)

Today, the Council of the European Union adopted sanctions against individuals and entities involved in the transfer and production of Iranian drones used by the Russian army in Ukraine.

These measures consist of banning the individuals and entities listed from entering the EU territories and freezing their financial assets.

These transfers constitute a violation of Security Council Resolution 2231, which was adopted in 2015 and which established a framework for the transfer of missiles and drones to and from Iran. We call on Iran to immediately cease all forms of support for the war of aggression that Russia started against Ukraine in violation of the fundamental principles of the Charter of the United Nations.
