Hungary – Meeting between Jean-Noël Barrot and Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó (July 24, 2025)

Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean-Noël Barrot hosted his Hungarian counterpart, Péter Szijjártó, on July 24.

During their meeting, they discussed bilateral relations and stepped-up economic and nuclear cooperation.

On the European front, the Ministers see eye to eye when it comes to promoting respect for the principle of technological neutrality, boosting support for European farmers and actively contributing to the development of a European defense.

The Minister reaffirmed our support for Ukraine in the war of aggression instigated by Russia, the need to work for a just and lasting peace, and our support for moving forward with Ukraine’s negotiations to join the EU.

The Minister also underscored the need to preserve the EU’s unity and cohesion in dealing with major international issues such as Ukraine and the Middle East.
