Haiti - Formation of an interim government (20 July 2021)

France welcomes the announcement on July 20 of the formation of an interim government led by interim Prime Minister Ariel Henry.

It represents a necessary step toward restoring the democratic functioning of Haitian institutions.

France reiterates the importance of holding trustworthy legislative and presidential elections as soon as conditions are in place. To that end, it encourages all Haitian political stakeholders to engage in an inclusive dialogue to end the crisis peacefully.

France stands with Haiti and with the Haitian people on the path of stability and development.
