Clément Beaune, Minister of State for European Affairs, attached to the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, is visiting Lithuania and Estonia on September 2-4. Coming on the heels of the 30th anniversary of the restoration of diplomatic relations with those two countries, those visits will serve to underscore the quality of our bilateral relations with the Baltic States and the closeness of our cooperation.

In Lithuania, Mr. Beaune will join Arnoldas Pranckevicius, Deputy Foreign Minister for European Affairs, to discuss bilateral cooperation and the main points on the European agenda: the green and digital transitions, the European Social Agenda, and negotiations on the future asylum pact and migration.

As a sign of solidarity with Lithuania amid the migratory crisis with Belarus, Mr. Beaune and his counterpart will visit the border between Lithuania and Belarus.

In Vilnius, Mr. Beaune will have discussions with students on the future of the EU and its priorities in connection with the Conference on the Future of Europe and ahead of the French EU Council Presidency in the first half of 2022.

In Estonia, he and Foreign Minister Eva-Maria Liimets will discuss European issues including the European digital agenda, the rule of law and the energy transition.

The Minister will address the Lennart Meri international conference held during the “Ubi Concordia, ibi Victoria (Where there is Unity, there is Victory)” round table on the challenges of societal cohesion in the face of disinformation and the need for a strong Europe able to project the voices of its member states on the international scene.
