Damage to the Nord Stream 1 and 2 gas pipelines (September 27, 2022)

As Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Catherine Colonna told her Danish and Swedish counterparts, Jeppe Kofod and Ann Linde, this morning, France stands shoulder to shoulder with Denmark and Sweden in the wake of the damage to the Nord Stream 1 and 2 gas pipelines in the Baltic Sea. The information we have so far points to this damage being deliberate.

These developments underscore the need to step up our efforts to increase resiliency and reduce the EU’s energy dependence. Working with our allies and partners, we will do our utmost to maintain our unity and resolve and to make sure that such actions are met with a strong response.
