Croatia - Visit by Clément Beaune (Zagreb, 22 July 2021)
Clément Beaune, Minister of State for European Affairs, attached to the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, is traveling to Croatia today.
He will meet with his Croatian counterpart, State Secretary for Europe Andreja Metelko-Zgombić, Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Gordan Grlić-Radman, and close colleagues of the Croatian Prime Minister.
Mr. Beaune and his interlocutors will discuss the EU response to the health crisis, the priorities of the French presidency of the European Council in the first half of 2022, and work pertaining to the Conference on the Future of Europe. He will reaffirm France’s commitment to maintaining high ambitions with respect to the climate following the presentation of the Fit for 55 package. The situation in the Balkans will also be on the table.
During this visit, Mr. Beaune will meet with young volunteers from the European Solidarity Corps working in the areas of social inclusion, respect for the environment, the promotion of citizen values and the defense of minorities. He will visit the Zagreb Cathedral, which suffered heavy earthquake damage and whose reconstruction is supported by the EU.
Mr. Beaune will underscore the high quality of our bilateral relationship as reflected since 2010 by a strategic partnership that was recently strengthened by Croatia’s decision to purchase 12 Rafale aircraft.
