Q: My question relates to China and Taiwan. Three days ago, President Macron warned of the threat posed by China, drawing a parallel between the situations of Ukraine and Taiwan. Beijing denounced his remarks, calling them “unacceptable.” Do you have any comment on Beijing’s reaction? Can you elaborate a little more on the relevance of this parallel posited by the President (or its lack)?

A: President Macron reaffirmed France’s unwavering position on this issue. We oppose any unilateral change in the status quo in the Strait of Taiwan, especially by force or coercion. Maintaining peace and stability is vital to global security and prosperity.
