Canada/Quebec – Franck Riester’s video conference meetings (5 July 2021)
Franck Riester, Minister Delegate for Foreign Trade and Economic Attractiveness, attached to the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, is today holding a video conference with Eric Girard, Quebec’s Minister of Economy and Innovation and Minister of Finance.
The meeting will provide an opportunity to discuss the prospects for strengthening the bilateral relationship and prepare the 21st Alternating Meeting of the French Prime Minister and the Quebec Premier. With this in mind, France and Quebec are working together on the major shared priorities of sustainable recovery, innovation, young people, the fight against climate change, and promoting the French language.
Franck Riester will also take part by video conference in an economic council with French economic and institutional stakeholders in Quebec. He will then chair a round table entitled “Choose France” with Quebec businesses that have invested in France, to promote France’s attractiveness within Quebec’s economic fabric.
France maintains special economic ties with Quebec, further strengthened by the provisional entry into force of the EU-Canada Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement in 2017. France is the second-largest foreign investor in Quebec, which is home to 350 French subsidiaries.
