Canada – Meeting between Catherine Colonna and her counterpart (3 Jun. 2022)
Catherine Colonna, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, met today with her Canadian counterpart, Mélanie Joly.
The ministers primarily discussed the situation in Ukraine and its consequences for international security. They also spoke about the emergency and solidarity mechanisms to be implemented, in particular with regard to food security.
Additionally, the ministers discussed ways to strengthen the strategic dialogue and future cooperation between France and Canada.
Canada is a like-minded ally and partner of France in international fora, in particular at NATO, the G7 and the G20. France and Canada share a common language as well as values, a profound commitment to multilateralism and overlapping positions on key international issues, in particular the climate, health and human rights.
