Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean-Noël Barrot met today with Christopher Skeete, Minister of International Relations and La Francophonie for Quebec, during Mr. Skeete’s first official visit to France after taking up his duties.

The Minister reaffirmed France’s strong commitment to its special, direct relationship with Quebec. France and Quebec share a history, language and values, and have extensive personal, political and economic ties.

The Ministers discussed opportunities for economic and industrial partnerships between France and Quebec, particularly in the lead-up to the first France-Quebec Business Forum, which is slated to be held in the spring of 2026. The Forum will cover such issues as supply chains for critical minerals, support for the creation of industrial consortia, and the capital funding of such projects.
