Bosnia-Herzegovina – Reauthorization of EUFOR Althea (3 November 2022)
France welcomes the UN Security Council’s unanimous adoption of Resolution 2658, which reauthorizes the EU’s EUFOR Althea operation. Operation Althea may now continue to play a fundamental role in stabilizing Bosnia-Herzegovina and the region in accordance with the Dayton-Paris Peace Agreement and UN Security Council decisions.
We encourage Bosnian political representatives to engage in dialogue and we hope to see the swift confirmation of the president and vice presidents following the October 2 elections as well as the continuation of essential reforms, particularly with regard to the rule of law. Such progress is necessary ahead of future discussions in Brussels on the European Council recommendation to grant Bosnia-Herzegovina EU candidate country status.
