Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Catherine Colonna welcomed her Bahraini counterpart, Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, today, in conjunction with the King of Bahrain’s visit to Paris.
With France and Bahrain celebrating the 50th anniversary of their bilateral relationship this year, the ministers expressed their desire to strengthen every aspect of our partnership ahead of next year’s High Joint Commission session.
They expressed their commitment to strengthening regional security and stability in the Middle East. This would entail a prompt return to compliance with the JCPoA, strengthening efforts to restore political prospects for resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, and working to resolve the crises in Yemen, Syria, Lebanon and Iraq.
The minister for Europe and foreign affairs expressed her deep concern over Russia’s war of aggression in Ukraine, whose consequences – particularly with regard to energy and food – are having a serious impact on Europe and the Middle East. She thanked her counterpart for Bahrain’s support in this regard.
