He spoke with his counterpart about the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh and the implementation of the November 9 statement relating to the cessation of hostilities. The minister reaffirmed France’s full mobilization within the framework of the Minsk Group Co-Chairmanship in order to re-establish dialogue between the parties and make progress toward resolving the urgent humanitarian issues, notably with respect to the release of prisoners of war.

The ministers discussed the challenges of economic development in Armenia and the region. In this context, the minister spoke about the strengthening of our bilateral relations. Following the discussions held between Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne - at his request - and the Armenian authorities during his recent visit to Yerevan on January 27 and 28, the minister highlighted France’s strong action in the humanitarian, emergency assistance and health spheres. He confirmed that this support would continue in 2021. He also stressed the importance of making swift progress toward the implementation of a new area of economic and financial cooperation with Armenia.
