Mme Catherine Colonna, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, had a meeting today with her Armenian counterpart, Mr Ararat Mirzoyan. The meeting follows the many telephone conversations the Minister has had with her counterpart since the summer.
The Minister confirmed France’s substantial active involvement in supporting the ongoing negotiations between Armenia and Azerbaijan on all the outstanding issues (draft peace treaty, border demarcation, opening of communication channels, humanitarian issues) with a view to achieving lasting peace, in full respect of Armenia’s territorial integrity.
The ministers discussed the state of the talks, after the recent meetings in Prague on 6 October, Brussels on 2 November and Washington on 7 November in particular. They also gave an initial assessment of the EU civilian mission’s deployment along the border, secured thanks to France’s active efforts, in accordance with the Prague conclusions.
