The 6th Summit of the Association of Caribbean States took place from April 28 to 30 in Mérida, Mexico. It marked the 20th anniversary of this regional organization of which France has been an associate member since it was established in 1994.
George Pau-Langevin, Minister for Overseas France, represented President Hollande at this summit; the regions of Guadeloupe and Martinique also participated in the summit for the first time as full associate members. Indeed, they became members in their own right of the Association of Caribbean States in recent weeks, with the support of the government. The regional integration of the French departments of the Americas is one of our priorities.
