French Nationals Abroad – Visit by Matthias Fekl to Nantes (October 1, 2015)

On October 1, Matthias Fekl, Minister of State for Foreign Trade, the Promotion of Tourism and French Nationals Abroad, will visit Nantes, where the Central Civil Status Office (service central d’état civil) has been located since its creation 50 years ago.

He will unveil a commemorative plaque in the presence of several elected and Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development officials.

Based on the number of documents issued, the Central Civil Status Office is the largest city hall in France. It is responsible for French citizens born or living abroad and draws up 120,000 civil status documents every year and issued 1.7 million copies or extracts of civil status documents in 2014, i.e. almost 7,000 per day.
