Today, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Catherine Colonna spoke before the participants selected for the second edition of the Summer Diplomatic Academy in order to encourage them to choose a career in diplomacy. Launched in 2021 as part of the new EDI diplomatic training school and efforts to make the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs accessible to all talents, the Summer Diplomatic Academy gives young people from all walks of life, selected using both achievement and social criteria, the chance to learn about different diplomatic occupations and assignments.
The week-long academy brings together 150 high school and college students from all over France and the French schools abroad network. By learning about the different diplomatic occupations and divisions at a key time in their career path, these students are invited to imagine a career for themselves within the ministry. Over the course of the week, staff members at all levels of the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs take the time to tell these students about their experience in France and throughout the world.
