Hurricane Irma – Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs participating in crisis unit (8 September 2017)

The Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs is providing support for the interministerial crisis unit set up by the Prime Minister following Hurricane Irma’s passage through the French Caribbean.

Jean-Yves Le Drian asked our Ministry’s Crisis and Support Center to answer calls from our compatriots who are seeking information on their loved ones in St. Martin and St. Barts.

The national number remains the same: 01-82-71-03-37.

Our consular and diplomatic network in the Caribbean and the United States is also on alert to help our fellow citizens in the countries affected by the hurricane. They are advised to strictly follow the safety instructions issued by local officials. For further information, dedicated phone lines have been opened in the embassies and consulates of the concerned areas.

We ask our fellow citizens in the French Caribbean and abroad to let their loved ones know they are all right as soon as local conditions allow them to do so using all means, including social networks.
