European Heritage Days 2017 (16 & 17 September 2017)

For this 34th edition of the European Heritage Days, we invite you to come out in force to visit the Quai d’Orsay and enjoy the activities planned around this year’s theme of “Youth and Heritage”!

What’s on the programme? Exhibitions, concerts and activities based on the Ministry’s missions and activities for children.

Programme for your visit of the Quai d’Orsay

Exhibitions

Concerts

  • Big Band with the French and German secondary school students from Buc (France) and Mettingen (Germany) (Saturday at 2, 4 and 5 p.m.)
  • Recital by the Ministry’s “Diplo Voce” choir (Sunday at 3 and 4 p.m.)
  • Republican Guard: String quartet (Saturday at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.), quartet for clarinet (Sunday at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m.), hunting horn concert in the garden (Saturday at 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. and Sunday at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m.)

Activities

  • Space with examples of the missions of the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, in the presence of the Crisis and Support Centre
  • Space with demonstrations of binding and art restoration
  • Photo area: Your press conference in 3D

Children’s activities

  • Honey workshop, run by the Quai d’Orsay beekeeper
  • Quiz for children in the booklet handed out at reception, to be completed during the tour

Programme for our site at the Diplomatic Archives at La Courneuve

  • Self-guided tour of the Henri Gouraud exhibition, photographs from Africa and the Orient
  • Guided tour of the shops and workshops for restoration and document digitization
  • Archives available to read: “Petrograd 1917 - Diplomats’ accounts of the Bolshevik Revolution” and a concert with student musicians from Pôle Sup ’93
  • Children’s workshop: “Discovering the world: looking at maps”

  • At La Courneuve, the Diplomatic Archive Centre will be open Saturday, 16 September from 14h00 to 17h30, au 3 Rue Suzanne Masson.

Programme at our Nantes site

  • Guided tours, presentation of archive-related professions and unpublished documents: Saturday, 16 Sept., at 2 and 3 p.m. and Sunday, 17 Sept., at 10 and 11 a.m.
  • Show (length: 1 hour): “Petrograd 1917 - Allied diplomacy against Russian revolutions”
  • Roving dramatized readings from the archives, by the Compagnie de l’Écume, Saturday, 16 Sept, 4 - 4:30 p.m. (Detailed programme at http://en.nantes.fr/home.html)

  • The Diplomatic Archive Centre is located at 17 rue du Casterneau in Nantes.
