On the occasion of the new school term, M. Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne, Minister of State, is visiting the premises of the Agency for French Education Abroad (AEFE) to review preparations for the new term at establishments in the agency’s network and meet its teams, who have been working on them.
As the French President said in his speech to ambassadors on Tuesday 29 August, “the budget for the AEFE will be maintained from 2018”. During his visit, the Minister of State will reaffirm the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs’ support for the agency and reiterate his determination to support it in meeting the growing need for French education abroad.
The French educational network abroad comprises 488 schools approved by the Ministry of National Education and the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs.
Thus, 340,000 pupils, 60% of them foreign, are educated around the world.
The AEFE has a twofold public service mission: to guarantee the continuity of the educational system for French people abroad and to contribute to our country’s policy of influence and global reach through its language and educational system.
