Climate - France welcomes the adoption of a global framework for sustainable aviation fuel (November, 29 2023)

The Third ICAO Conference on Aviation and Alternative Fuels (SAAF/3) held in Dubai from November 20 to 24 adopted an ambitious global framework for sustainable aviation fuel.

France welcomes this agreement, which illustrates the commitment of governments and the aviation industry to achieve carbon neutrality in the airline industry by 2050.
A few days ahead of the COP28, France and its European partners played a key role in these complex negotiations. The resulting agreement, which was adopted unanimously, opens the way to accelerating the production and use of these fuels, which are vital to achieving climate neutrality.

France will also assist developing countries with capacity building in the area of sustainable aviation fuel by contributing up to 200,000 euros in 2023 to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Environment Fund.
