Tuvalu Dans cette rubrique Tuvalu France and Tuvalu France and Tuvalu Date of update: May 26th 2026 Political relations France and Tuvalu’s bilateral relationship is based on the geographical proximity with Wallis and Futuna (an agreement on the delineation of maritime zones in the Pacific was signed by France and Tuvalu on 16 September 2015) and is also apparent in the case of natural disasters (emergency assistance sent following catastrophic flooding caused by Cyclone Pam in March 2015). Climate issues have also brought France and Tuvalu closer together. French support for Tuvalu’s submission to the Green Climate Fund (which was successful on its second attempt), as well as the success of COP21 during which Prime Minister Sopoaga had several meetings with Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius which greatly contributed to developing a very positive image of France. French presence France is not very present in Tuvalu. Visits Former Prime Minister Sopoaga attended the high-level dialogue on climate change and biodiversity held at the headquarters of the Pacific Community (SPC), along with President Emmanuel Macron, in Nouméa in May 2018, as well as the previous one in November 2014. He also attended COP21 and the Fourth France-Oceania Summit. Economic relations No French companies have invested in Tuvalu, FDI stocks and flows are almost at zero. Trade relations are practically non-existent, aside from some occasional transactions.
