Q - France took the G5 Sahel project to the UN. Can you clarify how this mission will be funded?
A - The nations that make up the G5 Sahel joint force are assuming their responsibilities. They must be supported by the international community through voluntary contributions by bilateral and multilateral partners.
Resolution 2359, initiated by France and unanimously adopted by the UN Security Council, calls for doing so. Several partners have already announced their contributions, including the EU, which declared it would provide 50 million euros in support.
As for the operational support France will provide for the joint force, we refer you to the Ministry for the Armed Forces.
