United Nations – Organization of a symposium on the occasion of the 70th anniversary (October 23, 2015)

On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the United Nations and on the eve of International United Nations Day, the United Nations Association of France will host on October 23, with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development, a forum entitled “70 years later: where is the United Nations headed?” Michel Rocard, former Prime Minister, Philippe Douste-Blazy, former minister, United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Innovative Financing for Development, and civil society representatives (media, business leaders and students) will take part in the conference.

This symposium will focus on the challenges currently facing the UN and ways to address them, such as the initiative proposed by France relating to the suspension of veto rights in cases of mass atrocity crimes.

The United Nations Association of France, chaired by Bernard Miyet, former UN Under-Secretary-General, aims to promote the multilateral system in public debates in France.
