United Nations – Appointment of Mahamat Saleh Annadif as Special Representative for West Africa and the Sahel (26 March 2021)

France congratulates Mahamat Saleh Annadif on his appointment as Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for West Africa and the Sahel. It assures him of its full support in the accomplishment of his important mission.

It pays tribute to the efforts of his predecessor, Mohamed Ibn Chambas.

France reaffirms its commitment to security, socio-economic development and the strengthening of democracy in West Africa and the Sahel. It encourages Mr. Annadif to mobilize the entire UN system, in close coordination with regional and international stakeholders, in support of conflict prevention and peacebuilding in West Africa and the Sahel.
