France noted with regret the announcement of the resignation of Ghassan Salamé, Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Libya. Ghassan Salamé has carried out his mission with competence and conviction since June 2017. We commend his efforts to promote a ceasefire and the launch of inter-Libyan dialogue under UN auspices.

France hopes that this momentum can be maintained and calls on all stakeholders to commit to a lasting ceasefire, improved control of resources and a representative and inclusive political dialogue.

France reaffirms its full support for the efforts of the UN secretary-general to this end.
