Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) – 70th anniversary (14 Dec. 2020)
Today is the 70th anniversary of the adoption of the UN General Assembly resolution establishing the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). While the movement of populations forced to flee their countries has reached a record high, France takes this opportunity to commend the work of the UNHCR. Its action is all the more essential given that the Covid-19 pandemic particularly affects refugees and displaced persons.
France reaffirms its commitment to supporting the work of the UNHCR, both by implementing the commitments it made at the Global Refugee Forum in Geneva in December 2019 as well as through its financial contributions to the UNHCR.
