On the occasion of International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking on June 26, France reaffirms its determination to combat this scourge, together with the international community.

The “Listen First!” international campaign was launched on this occasion to promote prevention policies aimed at young people by targeting parents, teachers as well as health professionals.

More than 40 countries from 5 continents are involved in this initiative which is backed by France, Sweden, the UN Office on Drugs and Crime and the World Health Organization.

During its extraordinary session on April 19, the UN General Assembly adopted a statement encouraging the member states to strengthen their efforts to provide a comprehensive and balanced approach combining prevention, treatment and the fight against trafficking, while ensuring respect for human rights. We call on our partners to continue their efforts to address this scourge which poses a threat to public health and security.
