The final of the Budding Ambassadors program, a flagship program sponsored by the Agency for French Education Abroad, will bring together, at UNESCO’s headquarters on May 12 and 13, 50 students from French elementary, middle and high schools abroad.
This project, which was launched in 2013, involves debate tournaments and will help promote multilingualism, the art of public speaking and openness toward other people. This year, the students will debate the topic of “How to be a good tourist. Discovery, responsibility and sharing.” The selection of the finalists took place from September 2014 to March 2015 on all continents. In the finals, the 50 selected students will speak in French, English and the language of their school’s host country. 31 countries will be represented.
Ten proposals for a “Charter for young responsible tourists” will be presented at the end of the competition by the students.
