Jean-Marc Ayrault, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Development, chaired the second annual tourism conference on November 17 which was attended by Ericka Bareigts, Minister for Overseas France, and Matthias Fekl, Minister of State for Foreign Trade, the Promotion of Tourism and French Nationals Abroad.
This event brought together tourism professionals (tour operators, airlines, French and foreign distribution networks, hotel and restaurant operators, etc.) as well as regional and departmental stakeholders in the sector.
It involved key figures, including Zubin Karkaria, Chief Executive Officer of the Kuoni Group, Pierre-René Lemas, Managing Director of Caisse des Dépôts, Anne-Sarah Panhard, Managing Director of Hermès, and Louis Schweitzer, General Commissioner for Investment.
The discussions notably focused on two questions:
- how can we capitalize on the diverse tourism experiences offered by France and its regions?
- how can we strengthen domestic tourism?
Jean-Marc Ayrault concluded the conference. He took stock of the progress achieved since the first annual tourism conference on October 8, 2015, and made proposals for action, notably in the areas of promotion, training, the digital transition and investment.
