Jean-Marc Ayrault, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Development, visited the Centre-Val de Loire region on August 23 to take part in meetings devoted to the promotion of tourism.
He met with professionals in several iconic French tourist destinations such as Montlouis-sur-Loire, Chaumont-sur-Loire and the Château de Chambord and provided some initial estimates regarding the 2016 tourist season.
This sector generates between 7 and 8% of our GDP and accounts for 2 million direct and indirect jobs. The government, alongside the local authorities, is committed to promoting and diversifying tourism in France. Mr. Ayrault and his interlocutors will notably discuss how to guarantee security for tourists.
Jean-Marc Ayrault hosted an emergency economic committee meeting on tourism at the Quai d’Orsay with around 50 tourism professionals and will chair the second annual tourism conference in the fall.
