Communiqué from the President’s Office:

Paris Food Forum postponed to June 2021

Elysée Palace, 18 April 2020

The COVID-19 epidemic means international events planned in France for June and July this year and involving the attendance of Heads of State and Government as well as civil society stakeholders will be postponed.

In agreement with the stakeholders of the Paris Food Forum, and in liaison with Chef Alain Ducasse and French Ambassador Philippe Faure who are responsible for coordinating the event on behalf of the President of the French Republic, this event, which was initially planned for 3 June 2020, has been postponed to June 2021.

This forum will bring together a wide range of players in the food industry from around the world and will promote the values of solidarity which are central to ensuring sustainable food for all.

It will be an opportunity to pay tribute to the commitment of all the professionals, farmers, processors, distributors and restaurant owners, who have been hit hard by the confinement measures and whose exemplary mobilization we welcome, particularly to help healthcare personnel and the most disadvantaged in our societies.

Food plays a key role in the response to the world’s major environmental, healthcare and social challenges and the Paris Food Forum will be organized in close collaboration with United Nations programmes and agencies, with an eye on the Food Systems Summit slated for September 2021.
