The State and the City of Paris are joining forces to combat the decline in tourism
Paris was still the leading tourist destination worldwide in 2015, with nearly 16 million international visitors. However, the events of 13 November led to a significant drop in the number of foreign tourists.
The State and the City of Paris have decided to tackle this situation by joining forces and drawing up a plan to promote Paris as a tourist destination, using dedicated resources.
This plan, which is supported by the Île-de-France region and major companies, draws on the expertise of Atout France, the Paris Convention and Visitors Bureau (OTCP) and the Île-de-France Regional Tourist Board.
Its aim is to reassure visitors and industry professionals about the security conditions in Paris. It is also aimed at the general public, to reawaken the enthusiasm that people have always had for Paris.
Destination Paris is part of a wider effort to promote France as a destination
The Destination Paris promotional campaign is part of a wider effort to promote France as a destination, which was announced to tourism professionals and partners on 1 March by Jean-Marc Ayrault.
