France’s security and defence strategy is guided by the frameworks of the 2013 Defence White Paper (in French) and the 2017 Strategic Review of National Defence and Security which takes stock of the international context and the changing risks and threats.

To respond to such risks and threats, France’s security and defence policy works in coordination with that of the European Union, within the OSCE, and at multilateral level with NATO.
