We celebrated International Day against Nuclear Tests on August 29, as decided by the UN General Assembly in 2009.
France signed the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty (CTBT) in 1996 and ratified it in 1998. It dismantled its test site in the Pacific in 1998 in a manner that was irreversible.
This year marks the 20th anniversary of the opening for signature of this treaty; we hope that it will enter into force as soon as possible.
France urges all states that have not signed or ratified the CTBT to do so as swiftly as possible, in order to contribute to international peace and security.
