Death of the leader of Daesh (30 November 2022)

France notes Daesh’s announcement of the death of its leader, Abu Ibrahim al-Hashemi al-Qurashi. This death strikes a new blow to the terrorist organization. However, it should not lead us to underestimate the persistent threat it poses in Iraq and Syria, as well as in many other regions of the world.

France remains totally determined to defeat Daesh in the long term. It will continue, for as long as necessary, its active efforts to combat terrorism nationally and alongside its 85 partners involved in the Global Coalition against Daesh.
