NATO – Conversation between Mme Catherine Colonna and the NATO Secretary General

Mme Catherine Colonna, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, spoke on the telephone today to Mr Jens Stoltenberg, NATO Secretary General.

In the run-up to the forthcoming Madrid Summit (28-30 June 2022), the call underlined the strength of France’s commitment within the Atlantic Alliance, whose central role is further emphasized by Russia’s aggression against Ukraine.

The Minister highlighted France’s increased contribution to the deterrence and defence posture on the eastern flank. She also reiterated France’s support for Sweden and Finland’s membership as well as for the adoption of an updated Strategic Concept to address the changing geostrategic context.
